FAQs

How far do credits go?

Task estimates assume mostly light work on efficient models, with occasional complex tasks on advanced models. Actual usage varies with the model, task size, compute and storage.

1M credits equal US$1 of usage. A model call costs that model's published API price, so a model listed at US$2 per million input tokens uses 2 credits per input token. On a new Workspace, the cloud computer uses about 74,000 credits for each hour it runs.

Does the cloud computer use credits when nothing is running?

Only while it runs. It is billed by the second and shuts down about 5 minutes after its last work, so idle time costs at most those few minutes. It starts again when Comma needs it.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Comma never bills you past zero. If a charge is larger than what is left, the difference is not taken from later credits. When your balance is empty, your next message waits on an Out of usage credits card: add credits or change plans, then choose Retry.

Do unused credits roll over?

No. Plan credits last one month, until the next month's credits arrive. A credit pack lasts until the end of the calendar month you buy it in (UTC). Comma spends the credits that expire first.

If I use my own model account, what still uses credits?

Model calls through your own API key, or your ChatGPT or Claude plan, use no credits. The cloud computer still uses credits while it runs, and so does anything that still runs on Comma's own models.

Can I change plans partway through a month?

Yes. Change tiers within the same billing period in Settings > Usage & billing. Upgrades apply after payment. Downgrades apply at the next paid renewal. Monthly and annual subscriptions cannot switch between periods. Existing credits keep their expiry dates.

With annual billing, do I get a year of credits at once?

No. You pay the displayed annual price once a year. Credits still arrive every month on the date your plan started, and each month's credits last one month.

What happens when I cancel?

Choose Cancel renewal in Settings > Usage & billing. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, and its credits stay usable until they expire. On an annual plan, the rest of the paid year's monthly credits still arrive.
