Linear

Assign a Linear issue to Comma, or mention @Comma in a comment. Comma answers in the issue, runs the work as a Task in your workspace, and posts progress and results back to the issue.

Before you start

  • A Comma workspace, in the desktop app or at app.comma.surf.
  • A Linear account in the workspace where you want Comma. The first person to connect in a Linear workspace installs Comma there, which needs a Linear workspace admin. Everyone after that links only their own account.
  • A way to run work: your own Codex or Claude Code connected to Comma, or Comma credits for a cloud Worker. Answers in the issue need no Worker.

Connect Linear

  1. In Comma, open Settings, then Channels, and press Connect on the Linear card.
  2. Linear asks you to authorize Comma to read your workspace as you. This tells Comma which Linear user you are.
  3. If Comma is not installed in that Linear workspace yet, Linear asks a second time. This installs Comma as an agent for the teams you pick.
  4. Back in Comma, the card shows Connected, with the Linear organization and your account.

Each person connects from their own Comma workspace. Issues you delegate run in your workspace with your Workers and credits. Issues a teammate delegates run in theirs.

Choose how your issues run

  • When a Task completes. Leave the issue as it is, move it to In Review if your team has that state, or move it to Done.

Delegate an issue

  1. In Linear, assign the issue to Comma, or write @Comma in a comment with what you want.
  2. Comma answers in the issue's agent session within seconds. A question, a triage or a plan is answered there, with no Task.
  3. When the issue needs real work, Comma starts a Task. The issue moves to your team's first started state, In Progress in most teams, unless it is already started or closed. The session gets a Task in Comma link, and the Worker's progress and result are posted to the session. A pull request the Worker opens is linked too.
  4. Reply in the session to steer or to ask for more. Comma starts another Task once the current one has finished.

Stop or close

  • Press Stop in the session: the running Task ends. Work already done stays.
  • Mark the issue Done or Canceled, or assign it away from Comma: the running Task ends and Comma says so in the session. A Task that has already delivered its result is left alone.
  • Delete the issue: the running Task ends with a note in the Task in Comma. The session is gone with the issue, so nothing more is posted there.

Working in Comma

Every session has an Open in Comma link, and every delegated Task a Task in Comma link. There you can read the full transcript, continue the work, or review and accept the result. What you write in Comma stays in Comma; only Comma's answers to what was asked in Linear go back to the issue.

Manage or disconnect

  • Open Manage on the Linear card for all of these.
  • Reconnect, after a confirmation, if your Linear login changed.
  • Disconnect unlinks only your account. Teammates keep theirs.
  • Remove from organization is offered to the Comma workspace that installed Comma there. A Linear admin can also remove it in Linear, under Settings, Applications.
